In today's AED231 tutorial, we discussed about what forgiveness is. It is suggested that forgiveness is about freeing oneself from the pain that is within you, a form of liberation. It is also suggested that forgiving and forgetting is different. It is possible to forgive but not forget. This is complicated!

I feel that forgiveness itself is a difficult thing to be really done. Although one may feel that he/she has forgiven another for some issues, do we really feel comfortable talking about the issue openly again? Or are we avoiding the issues?


The discussion of forgiveness posed a very simple, yet tough to answer questions to myself.


Have I really forgiven the person and the issues that once hurt me? What really is forgiving? Is it the ability to talk to the person as usual? Or is it about being able to talk about what had happened openly?


The answer to the question is that I thought I have forgiven, really forgiven. But now I am unsure if I have already forgiven as I think I cannot talk about what had happened openly to the person (although there isn't a need). Probably, I had chosen to just forget about it or put it aside.

The truth is 'I don't know'.
